The legal validity of electronic contracts and the types of electronic signatures are regulated differently in each country. For example, under the EU’s eIDAS regulation and the U.S. ESIGN Act, electronic signatures and electronic documents are considered legally equivalent to their paper counterparts.

Depending on the type of contract or agreement, individuals, legal entities, and government organizations can choose to use either electronic or digital signatures through the e-geree system. Additionally, the development of blockchain and cryptographically verified systems continues to enhance the security of electronic contracts.
